- Roll Call of Board Members Present: Trustee Jager, Clerk Hippler, Supervisor Jager, Treasurer Halbower all present, Trustee Schroeder absent.
- Set Agenda
- Agenda set with the addition of 12H- Fire Department Patches.
- Review Minutes
- 020120 Trustee Jager made a motion to approve the minutes from the January 14, 2020 Regular Board meeting. Second by Treasurer Halbower. CARRIED.
- Payment of Bills
- 020220 Trustee Jager made a motion to approve the Payment of the Bills as presented. Second by Supervisor Jager. Supervisor Jager noted that the payment to Great Lakes Ford was for an emergency repair to the plow truck. CARRIED.
- Business from the Floor
- Commissioner Gary Foster-County is exploring purchasing land from Nugent Sands in Norton Shores for $70,000. Land would be used for a park and contains two lakes and has frontage on lake Michigan. A meeting regarding MAPS bus routes will be held. Individuals interested in the bus routes should attend the meeting. Money is available for programs in rural muskegon county. Residents need to make their voices heard. For more information contact Commissioner Foster.
- Malinda Pego, 3rd Street- A committee is being established to manage Holton Township funds from the Senior Millage.
- Peggy Foster- Muskegon County Senior Committee Representative. Mrs. Foster will be presenting information regarding Senior Services in Muskegon County at future meetings.
- Treasurer’s Report
- 020320 Trustee Jager made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s report as presented. Second from Clerk Hippler. CARRIED.
- Department Reports.
- Planning and Zoning- Cheyenne Williams has been appointed Planning Commission Chair.
- Fire Department-3 personnel are currently enrolled in training programs. 1 individual has completed their Medical First Responder training and is certified. Muskegon County was 1 of only 5 counties in the state to have 100% of their fire reports turned in. Repairs on Truck 1916 are almost completed. Chief hawk will reach out to the insurance company to make sure everything is in order.
- Correspondence
- Insurance Risk Audit went well. Recommendations included use of a program to notify township of driving infractions by employees who drive Township equipement and a system to ensure safety check of recreation equipment at the park.
- Unfinished Business:
- ORV Ordinance: Supervisor Jager talked with Ken Hulka MCRC. Department is willing to allow Township Ordinance to operate as is for 2 years barring any damage to the roads.
- New Business
- 020420 Trustee Jager made a motion to approve the payment of a $150 fee for Cheyenne Williams and Jill Coburn to attend Planning & Zoning Training. Second by Treasurer Halbower. CARRIED.
- 020520 Trustee Jager made a motion to approve Free Dump Day to be held May 9, 2020, ending once dumpsters are full on that day. Second by Treasurer Halbower. CARRIED.
- 020620 Trustee jager made a motion to move the location for the March 10, 2020 meeting to the Holton Library. Second by Treasurer Halbower. CARRIED.
- 020720 Treasurer Halbower made a motion to approve the request to purchase a 20 ft. extension ladder for DPW at $249.99. Second by Trustee Jager. CARRIED.
- 020820 Trustee jager made a motion to approve the Fire Department request to purchase a subscription to Target Solutions for $89 per user plus an annual maintenance fee of $395. Second by Clerk Hippler. CARRIED.
- 020920 Trustee Jager made a motion to approve the Fire Department request to purchase 3 Kemp EMS Backpacks for $325.58. Second by Treasurer Halbower. CARRIED.
- 021020 Trustee Jager made a motion to hire Ashley Morrow, pending the results of her background check and physical, to the Holton Township Fire Department. Second by Treasurer Halbower. CARRIED.
- 021120 Trustee Jager made a motion to approve the purchase of 50 Holton Fire Department patches for $500. Second by Clerk Hippler. CARRIED.
- Future Business: Supervisor Jager received three options from the MCRC for road projects for Holton Township. Each project would cost approximately $100,000 and would be paid for with the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 fiscal years’ budget funds. Options included: Resurfacing 1 mile of Brunswick Road and repairing the gravel on 2 additional miles; paving ½ mile of east Lake Road and possibly resurfacing sections of Ewing and Hart Roads; resurfacing all of the paved roads in Holton Township.
