Board Meeting Minutes for March 11, 2014
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Pledge of Allegiance given by all present.
Roll Call: Trustee Jager, Clerk Johnson, Supervisor Noble, Treasurer Halbower present. Trustee Wilson absent.

Review of minutes – February 11, 2014 meeting.
030114 Treasurer Halbower made a motion to accept the minutes as written. Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.
Review of Bills:
030214 Trustee Jager made the motion to pay the bills as presented. Treasurer Halbower seconded. CARRIED.
Business from the Floor: None
Treasurer’s Report:
030314 Trustee Jager made the motion to accept the treasurers report as presented. Clerk Johnson seconded. CARRIED.
Department Reports:
Planning Commission Chairman Tom West reported they had no meeting.- waiting for correspondence from the township attorney on zoning changes.
Fire Chief Stevens reported for the month of Feb: Man hours total 221 hours. Expenses for the 206 account were $31,636.51, currently 14% under budget. No expenses from the 216 account and it is 12% over budget because of the early payoff of the truck loan.

New Business: Request by Inspectors to increase permit fees.
1. Charge a base fee of $35 for both new and remodeling. Currently a base fee is included in the flat fee for new construction, and a base fee is charged for remodeling only and to increase it to $50.
2. Increase the inspections fee from $35 to $50.
030414 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to raise the base fee for new construction and remodeling from $35 to $50. Clerk Johnson seconded. FAILED.
030514 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to increase the inspection fee $35 to $50. No second. MOTION DIES.
There was a question regarding Fire Department members working at private events. Some members have currently been covering cage fighting at the Star Arena. Mick contacted MTA and our attorney concerning this and we would need a written policy. The private business would have to contract with the Township
Board, and all payments would have to go through the Township. The question is do we want to become involved with private functions due to liability issues.
030614 Trustee Jager made the motion that we do not provide services to private businesses. Treasurer Halbower seconded the motion. CARRIED.
Constantine Irrigation contract. We normally only contract for Fall Services, but Marc has suggested we also contract for the Spring Services too. Last Spring we had problems with valves not closing and other issues. Spring cost – $375, Fall Cost $425.
030714 Clerk Johnson made the motion to contract with Constantine Irrigation for Spring and FallServices for a total of $750. Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.
Free Dump Day – May 10, 2014
030814 Clerk Johnson made the motion to have the free dump day sponsored by the County onMay 10, 2014 this year. Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED.
Goodwill will accept electronics. The County will waive dump fees. Art asked about tires – we take tires
year round now, and they are not included in the free dump day.
