Board Meeting Minutes – July 10, 2018
Call to Order
Supervisor Jager called to order the regular meeting of the Holton Township Board at 7pm on July 10, 2018 at Holton Township Hall.
Pledge of Allegiance given by all present.
Roll Call: Supervisor Jager, Treasurer Halbower, Trustee Jager, Clerk Hippler present. Trustee Schroeder absent.
Agenda is set with the addition of 12B: Accepting resignation of Bryan Fialek.
Review of Minutes
070118 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to approve the June 12, 2018 Regular Meeting minutes as presented. Clerk Hippler seconded. CARRIED
070218 Trustee Jager made the motion to accept the June 20, 2018 Budget Hearing Meeting minutes as presented. Treasurer Halbower seconded. CARRIED
Review of Bills:
070318 Trustee Jager made the motion to pay the bills as presented. Treasurer Halbower seconded. CARRIED
Business from the Floor: None
Treasurer Report:
070418 Trustee Jager made the motion to accept the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Clerk Hippler seconded. CARRIED
Department Reports:
Planning Commission will be meeting to update Master Plan. Waiting on census and demographic data. Public meetings will be held to gather ideas for the
Township Master Plan. Plan will likely be completed by the end of the year.
Permit and Zoning Reports given to Board
Fire Department reported 358 total man hours for June. The department ended the 2017-2018 fiscal year 32% under budget. The budget surplus will be placed in the reserve account. The arrangement to provide services to Cedar Creek Township is working satisfactorily for both townships.
Correspondence:
Supervisor Jager reported the county will be spraying for weed control. Anyone wishing to have their property excluded must opt out.
Unfinished Business: None
New Business:
Transfer station bids: Bids were received from MCK Enterprises, Republic Services, and Uganski Roll-off Services. MCK provided a good price and has provided good service.
Gary Foster stated that the County would be exploring options for reducing the cost to communities operating transfer stations. County is still in planning and may not affect the cost of hauling.
070518 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to accept the terms presented by MCK Enterprises with a 30-day cancelation clause for both parties. Clerk Hippler seconded. CARRIED
070618 Treasurer Halbower made the motion to accept with regret the resignation of Bryan Fialek from the Parks Commission. Trustee Jager seconded. CARRIED
Future Business:
Treasurer Halbower stated Oak Shores is exploring switching its street lights to LED lights but would need to go through the township for better rates. This could require Oak Shores to become a Street Light District and could also require a special assessment for Oak Shores residents.
Supervisor Jager stated business regarding Little Silver Lake is ongoing.
