Board Meeting Minutes – March 11, 2025
Meeting: Called to order at 7:00pm by Supervisor Jager

Roll call by Clerk Murat: Trustee Jager, Clerk Murat, Supervisor Jager, Trustee Brant, Treasurer Halbower
all present.
Motion 1-3-25 by Trustee Jager to approve February 11, 2025 meeting minutes, support by Trustee
Brant. Motion carries.
Motion 2-3-25 by Trustee Jager to approve February 11, 2025 payment of bills as presented, support by
Trustee Brant. Motion carries.
Business from the floor:
Fred Richards, 9011 Schow Rd and 5760 Syers Rd inquired as to how to appeal tax bill.
Trinity, representative from Muskegon County Public Health, inquiring about concerns from our
township related to public health. Board asked for more involvement in conducting testing on our
ground water for residents and the school.
Kristina Achterhoff, representative for Senator Jon Bumstead, gave updates from his office on per
pupil funding, new fees and new sick leave act.
Seth Santiago, Muskegon County Public Health, visited our Community Center and wanted to let
us know he loves what they are doing.
Motion 3-3-25 by Trustee Jager to approve treasurer’s report as presented, supported by Trustee Brant.
Motion carries.
Department reports:
Library- Holton’s library has been selected to host the 2025 Notable Book Author Tour, Erin
Bartels on June 11th. Holton was the only branch in Muskegon County selected for this. New gardening
club will be meeting Wednesday March, 26th at 5:30. April 12th the Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the
park. Any donations for candy may be dropped off at the library. Book Club continues to meet every 4th
Tuesday of the month. 2025 Summer Reading Theme is “Color My World”. Women’s bathroom is in need
or repairs.
Motion 4-3-25 by Trustee Jager to allow $1000 to update women’s bathroom, supported by Trustee
Brant. Motion carries.
Ordinance- 8481 Holton Duck Lake stop order letter to owner for numerous complaints. Home
owner assures issues are being taken care of. 8434 Holton Duck Lake 3rd citation and fine for non-
compliance to remove temporary shed being used as dwelling encroaching other landowner’s property.
Per property owner, shed will be removed by 3/31/25. 8225 Notice given to demo burned structure.
5760 Syers Notice to remove structure being built over RV by 3/31/25.
Inspections- 7 New permits for $891.00
Fire Department- 31 calls, 24 Holton Township and 7 Cedar Creek Township with 6 Mutual Aids.

Tuesday March 11, 2025
New Business:
Fire Department asking to purchase wildland helmets and eye protection as well as gloves.
Motion 5-3-25 by Trustee Jager to allow Fire Department to purchase up to $400 for wildland helmets
and eye protection, supported by Treasurer Halbower. Motion carries.
Motion 6-3-25 by Trustee Jager to allow Fire Department to purchase structural fire fighter gloves for
$1088.20, supported by Trustee Brant. Motion carries.
Free dump day scheduled for May 10th.
Motion 7-3-25 by Trustee Jager to hire D&B Brine to brine the roads for $18,500, supported by Clerk
Murat. Motion carries.
Motion 8-3-25 by Clerk Murat to change the wage of our seasonal cemetery worker to $15 hour,
supported by Brant. Motion carries.
Future Business:
Election Board will meet at 6:45 on Tuesday April 8th, 15 minutes prior to the board meeting.
