Cemetery Department
Cemetery Department Responsibilities
The Cemetery Department is responsible for communicating with funeral homes and families of the deceased for the purpose of burial arrangements and plot sales in Oakwood Cemetery. The Cemetery department also maintains maps, records, and the cemetary grounds along with enforcing the Cemetery Ordinance. The Cemetery Supervisor oversees these responsibilities and is under the supervision of the Township Supervisor.
History
Holton Oakwood Cemetery is located in the northeast corner of Section 27, of Holton Township. Land was first purchased in 1876 for a cemetery in Holton Township. Since then, several parcels have been purchased for the cemetery which includes the Veteran’s Memorial area donated by Elizabeth Perysian. Our cemetery is about 7 and 1/2 acres and we are currently working on an expansion of its useable space.
Sites are available to township residents and non-residents.
