Planning Commission Meeting Minutes for July 15, 2014

Meeting called to order by chair, Tom West at 7:05 p.m.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Motion by Mike Cygeirt, supported by Rodney Dial to approve minutes of June 24, 2014 with correction on date – June 4, 2014 to July 15, 2014.  Motion carried.

Public Comments – None

Chair, Tom West declared Public Hearing open at 7:12 p.m.  Purpose of Public Hearing is to consider Ordinance Number 2014-1, an ordinance to amend the Holton Township Zoning Ordinance by removing sections regarding Special and Primary Uses for purposes of clarification in relation to other sections.  Notice was published in the Muskegon Chronicle on June 30, 2014.

Correspondence received in connection to hearing – None

 

Public Comments –

Alvin Mast – 7960 Meinert Rd., Holton  – Commented on Section 15, 2d of Secton 1.04aa, “Home Occpations”.

Question/Comments by Commissioners  –

Bill Halbower – Voiced concern of deleting “Other uses similar in character to the above and not specifically listed” in amended Zoning Ordinance.  Committee to re-visit at the September 16, 2014 meeting.

Chair, Tom West declared Public Hearing closed at 7:30 p.m.

Chair, Tom West will submit approved changes of amended Zoning Ordinance to Holton Township Board for approval.

Unfinished Business – None

New Business  –

Marvin Mast from K-Mar Structures requested zoning change to extend commercial zone district along M-120.  Mr. Mast  presented Committee with information on proposed expansion of their manufacturing facility

Chair, Tom West reviewed with Mr. Mast and Committee on guidelines for evaluating rezoning – Consistency standard, Compatibility standard and Capability standard.  Also reviewed the development plan for Special Use/Site Plan approval.

Once applications are completed with fees paid, meeting will be scheduled.

Next regular meeting to be held on September 16, 2014 at 7:05 p.m.

Continuing education continues to be available.
