Board Meeting Minutes – December 8, 2020
- Meeting called to order by Supervisor Jager at 7:01 pm at the Holton Township Hall, 6511 Holton Whitehall Road, Holton, MI.
- Roll Call: Treasurer Halbower, present; Trustee Thompsen, present; Trustee Jager, absent; Supervisor Jager, present; Clerk Colburn, absent.
- Agenda- Concerns over Board of Review meeting in person. It will be discussed with Assessor but not added to the agenda.
- 120120– Treasurer Halbower made a motion to approve the Minutes from November 11, 2020 as presented. Second by Trustee Thompsen. CARRIED
- Payment of the Bills- Bills report not available. It will be reviewed in January.
- Business from the Floor
- Art Stevens- 7675 Schow Road- Believes the purchase of the Fire Department air packs should come from the Fire 206 account. Treasurer Halbower said the language of the original millage would have to be checked.
- Malinda Pego- Incoming County Commissioner- Attended meeting where Muskegon County Health Director gave update. COVID cases are trending down but hospital capacity remains high.
- 120220 Supervisor Jager made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report as presented. Second by Trustee Thompsen. CARRIED.
- Department Reports
- Ordinance Enforcement has 3-4 ongoing cases.
- Zoning and Permits has $4295 in new permits including a few new houses and 6-8 zoning compliance activities
- Fire Department- Runs increased last month and there will be approximately 385 runs for the year. Millage is being reviewed and it may be necessary to ask for an increase as expenses have gone up.

- New Business-
- 120320 Treasurer Halbower made a motion to accept the resignation of Zoning Administrator Don Rohlck with regrets effective December 31, 2020. Second by Trustee Thompsen. Supervisor Jager read a letter presented by Mr. Rohlck which will be attached to the minutes. CARRIED.
- Designated Assessor- State requires a backup assessor if error are repeatedly made by local assessor. Supervisor Jager talked with MTA regarding a contract to use County Equalization and was informed that there was no conflict of interest between the county and our current assessor.
- 12012020 Treasurer Halbower made a motion to approve the Resolution to Contract with Muskegon County Department of Equalization for Back-up Assessing Services. Second by Trustee Thompsen. Roll Call Vote: Supervisor Jager-yes, Treasurer Halbower-yes, Clerk Coburn-absent, Trustee Thompsen-yes, Trustee Jager-absent. RESOVLED.
- 120420– Treasurer Halbower made a motion to purchase VPN software for $350 for Clerk Coburns laptop to be purchased and installed by Matt Henry. Second by Trustee Thompsen. CARRIED.

- 120520– Trustee Thompsen made a motion to adjourn at 7:40pm. Second by Treasurer Halbower. ADJOURNED.
