Planning Commission Meeting Minutes from August 19, 2014
Meeting called to order by chair, Tom West at 7:05 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Motion by Bill Halbower, supported by Rodney Dial to approve minutes of July 15, 2014 as presented. Motion carried.
Public Comments – on non-agenda items – None
Chair, Tom West declared Public Hearing open at 710 p.m.
Chair, Tom West stated reason for Hearing is to consider a zone change from A-1 Agriculture to C-1 Commercial for ten acres of parcel number 61-05-001-200-0011-00 to the northwest quadrant of Meinert and Maple island Roads. Request made by Marvin Mast, K-Mar Structures, 7960 E. Meinert Road. All fees have been paid to Holton Township. Notice of hearing was published in The Muskegon Chronicle on August 4, 2014.
Correspondence directed to Hearing – Zoning Petition supporting zone change signed by Alvin Mast, Floyd Miller, Edward Yoder, Allen Beachy, Miles Cowles, Gordon Wagenmaker and Wayne Kohley.
Marvin Mast, 7960 E. Meinert Road, Holton stated reason for expansion of business at new location.
Chair, Tom West reviewed standards evaluating rezoing – Consistency, Compatibility and Capability, page 47, MTA Township Planning & Zoning Decision-making. Also reviewed Commercial Districts C-7.. 9.02A Primary Uses (Page 42 of Zoning Ordinance). Request for rezoning has met all criteria.

Motion by Tom West, supported by Bill Halbower to approve the following Planning Commission meeting dates for the 2014-2015 fiscal year:
September 16, 2014 November 5, 2014
January 20, 2015 March 17, 2015 May 19, 2015
July 21, 2015
Motion carried.
Correspondence – Letter from Holton Township on Ordinance 2014-1. Township Board requested Planning Commission to review Sections 16-25 and delineate Special Uses applicable to these sections. Will address at the September meeting.

Rodney Dial — Comment on Tom West’s new position with Holton Township as Ordinance Enforcer.
